Peter Obi- Why I am Personally Heading to the Court of Appeal

March 08, 2023

By Joshua Samuel Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), explained why he would be going to the Court of Appeal on Wednesday. In response to the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) rejection to let the LP inspect electoral materials used during the presidential election, Obi declared he would be going before the Appellate Court. He revealed this while bemoaning his inability to travel the country supporting LP governorship hopefuls. After PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar and All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Tinubu, who won, Obi finished third. Obi had gone to the court after his defeat to protest his defeat and request permission to examine election-related papers. As opposed to this, Obi stated in a series of tweets: "I am scheduled to start our nonstop campaign for our various Labour Party Governorship and State Assembly Candidates today. My original itinerary called for stops in Nasarawa, Lagos, Enugu, Abia, the Delta, Edo, the Rivers, the Plateau, Borno, etc. "But, I am personally going to the Court today with our attorneys since INEC refused to permit our party to check the papers (including BVAS) from the 25th February presidential elections. I implore all Obidients in the various states to continue advocating for our candidates, notably Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour in Lagos, Chijioke Edeoga in Enugu, Patrick Dakum in Plateau, Alex Otti in Abia, and Ken Pela in Delta, as we seek due process and defer to the rule of law. "Ibrahim Mshelia in Borno is just one example. Voting for candidates who possess these qualities—competence, character, capacity, and compassion—is also essential. I'm still committed, and I'll focus more on our effort to get back our mandate. Nigeria's rebirth is conceivable!
