The Minister and his delegation attended high-level meetings and forums at the IMF and the World Bank, demonstrating their commitment to South Sudan’s economic progress

The South Sudan delegation to the 2025 IMF/WBG Spring Meetings concluded a successful mission. Led by the Minister of Finance and Planning, Hon. Dr. Marial Dongrin, the delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Finance and Planning, the Central Bank of South Sudan, and the National Bureau of Statistics.

The Minister and his delegation attended high-level meetings and forums at the IMF and the World Bank, demonstrating their commitment to South Sudan’s economic progress.

During the meetings, the Minister acknowledged the invaluable financial and technical assistance the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund provided to the people of South Sudan. He emphasized the World Bank’s crucial role in driving the country’s sustainable economic growth, underscoring the government’s achievements in enhancing revenue collections to ensure financial stability.

Minister Dongrin took an initiative-taking approach by engaging in crucial discussions with key development partner leaders, including Nick Dyer, the Second Permanent Undersecretary of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) for the United Kingdom, and the African Exim Bank delegation.

The delegation conducted bilateral discussions with Ministers of Finance and central bank governors from African nations, the Central Bank of Türkiye governor, and Executive Directors at the IMF and the World Bank, among others.

According to a source, the spring meetings were positive and fruitful. The South Sudan delegation, led by Hon. Dr. Marial Dongrin, will engage in bilateral discussions with the United States Government.

The South Sudan delegation did a great job at the IMF/WBG meetings. The team is great and they have brilliant minds. It’s unfortunate they had visa issues.
