Muhoroni Youth Football Club has been expelled by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee after being found guilty of match manipulation.
The global football governing body announced the decision following a comprehensive investigation into activities related to manipulating football matches and competitions. As part of the punishment, the club's senior team has been relegated to the Football Kenya Federation Division One League, effective next season.
“Following a thorough analysis of the respective cases and as part of its zero-tolerance policy against match manipulation, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has taken the decision to expel Muhoroni Youth’s senior team from the FKF NSL,” read part of a statement issued by FIFA.
The ruling is part of FIFA's broader crackdown on integrity breaches in global football. FIFA has since contacted the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to ensure the implementation of preventative measures aimed at combating match-fixing and restoring trust in the sport.
In line with FIFA’s disciplinary regulations, the parties involved have been notified of the decisions and have ten days to request the full grounds for appeal to the FIFA Appeal Committee.
FIFA reiterated its firm stance against all forms of football corruption, emphasizing that integrity is a core objective enshrined in its statutes.
The organization also encouraged individuals with knowledge of match-fixing to report through its secure and confidential whistleblowing system.
