The Pan African Movement Africans Risings is calling for the nomination of 2024 activism awards.
In a statement, the organization said the nomination exercise, which has kicked off, will culminate on July 4, 2024.
The nominations cover three categories: activist of the year, movement of the year and artistic activist of the year.
The African Risings is committed to acknowledging and recognizing the work of activists and movements across the continent and diaspora through the mentioned awards.
“The nominations for 2024 Africans Rising Activism Award are now open. We believe that activists deserve to be recognized and celebrated for their selfless efforts in pushing for a better continent for all,” read the statement in part.
Nominations for the awards are submitted by the general public via the Africans Rising Membership Platform.
After nominations, an established panel of judges will review the nominees and select a handful as final nominees.
“For each category (Activist of the Year, Movement of the Year and Artistic Activist of the Year) two final nominees will be chosen to represent North Africa, East Africa, Central Africa, West Africa, Southern Africa, and the diaspora, for 36 nominees,” said African Risings.
Once the final nominees are announced, only Africans Rising members registered in the organization's database can vote online for the candidates they believe deserve an Africans Rising Activism Award.
The winners will be revealed during the Awards and Cultural Gala organized as a part of the All Africans Movement Assembly in Accra, Ghana.
