The All-African Movement Assembly (AAMA) 2024 is set to take place on August 30th and 31st in Accra, Ghana.

The assembly is one of the most significant gatherings of African movements, activists, and human rights defenders.

It is organised by the Africans Rising, a Pan-African movement of people and organisations working for peace, justice and dignity

This year’s assembly, under the theme “Towards Pan-African Solidarity: United We Stand, Divided We Fall,” will bring together over 400 physical participants and 1,000 virtual attendees from across the continent and the diaspora.

The AAMA 2024 provides a critical platform for assessing the collective mandate of Africans in the quest for unity, justice, peace, and dignity.

The event will feature a distinguished panel of speakers, including Kumi Naidoo, African Rising Ambassador and renowned human rights advocate, Samia Nkrumah, President of the Kwame Nkrumah Pan-African Center (KNAC).

Others are Pierre-Christophe Gam, a polymath artist and visionary and Hardi Yakubu, Coordinator of Africans Rising.

These leaders and activists will share their insights and experiences, guiding discussions on the African continent's challenges and opportunities.

The AAMA 2024 comes amid the current socio-political climate in Africa, characterised by a shrinking civic space and increasing repression.

“As Africa faces a rapidly shrinking civic space, with increasing crackdowns on

dissent, harassment, abductions, and even killings of activists, the need for collective

dialogue and unified action has never been more urgent,” said the Africans Rising in a statement.

Recent protests in countries like Senegal, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, and Uganda have highlighted the urgent need for better living conditions, dignity, and respect for human rights, especially for the youth.
