March 23, 2022

By Samuel Ouma Raila Odinga’s presidential bid received a massive boost on Wednesday, March 23,2022, after Martha Karua declared that she will support his candidature. The two leaders held a consultative meeting in a Nairobi hotel before holding a joint press address. The former Justice and Legal Affairs Minister said her party Narc Kenya will not field a presidential candidate in the upcoming polls, instead will through her weight behind the former Prime Minister. “I am here to confirm that from now onwards Narc Kenya and I are supporting the Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga and this is without any equivocation. I have said time and again, and NARC-Kenya believes in this, that as we move forward we must look for leaders who have a demonstrated track record of being selfless and putting the interest of the nation above theirs,” she said. The Narc Kenya Party leader said Odinga’s top ten agenda drew her to Azimio La Umoja coalition, promising to move across the country to popularize his bid. “I have been looking keenly and I have been able to identify a critical mass of good people within the Azimio coalition and that is all that is needed to fight for the second liberation in this country,” she added. Karua’s move have been lauded by Odinga’s supporters who could not hide their joy on social media platforms. “Martha Karua is a blessing to Azimio. She means well for our nation,” said Dennis Nyambane. “Out of all those who have joined RailaOdinga in Azimio, MarthaKarua has proven to be the most forthright. The reminded baba of where they were in the 1980s fighting for the rights of Kenyans,” stated blogger Robert Alai. Governor Charity Ngilu posted, “Welcome to the winning side, Martha Karua.” “Welcome Hon. Martha Karua to the formidable Azimio coalition. We believe in a united and progressive Kenya. Your track record in quest for a new Kenya is unquestionable. I also wish you all the best in your Kirinyaga Gubernatorial bid. Let’s win together,” said MP Ben Momanyi.
