Samia meets UAE’s Vice President as Tanzania take centre stage at Dubai Expo 2020

By Prosper Makene [caption id="attachment_94130" align="alignnone" width="1080"] Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan with Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.(Photo: Courtesy of State House)[/caption]  Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan has met with Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.  President Samia met with the ruler of Dubai shortly after addressing the ongoing Dubai Expo 2020 Saturday 26 February, 2022.  However, the World Expo Dubai 2020 has dedicated February 27th 2022 as the day for Tanzania to promote its products and opportunities.  Tanzania is well organised to utilise the Expo, especially on the day of February 27th, 2022 which has been earmarked for Tanzania. However, the United Republic of Tanzania will host a crucial ‘Tanzania Energy Symposium’ as part of a series of national day celebrations at Expo 2020 Dubai on Sunday, February 27, under the theme ‘Promoting Tanzania as East Africa’s Energy Hub’.  Hosted by The Tanzania Ministry of Energy, it will bring together NOCs, IOCs, investors, financiers, traders, EPC+F, developers, governments, and agencies, for a showcase of investment opportunities in this fast-growing nation.  Ahead of the Symposium, January Y. Makamba, the Tanzanian Minister of Energy, said: “Tanzania is strategically located to serve East and Central Africa, and we are determined to make this desire a reality. One way of doing so is by attracting high calibre investors in the energy sector, where we have potential to meet the growing energy demand within the region and abroad, through projects such as LNG.”  Makamba, together with the technical team at the Symposium, will present opportunities and spearhead discussions on investment, financing and strategy in upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas projects; petroleum supply and storage infrastructure; electricity generation; transmission and distribution; rural electrification; and renewable energies.  The Symposium will culminate with Tanzania’s national day weekend festivities in and around the country’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, which will stage a special celebration on Saturday, February 26.  Meanwhile, the Tanzanians living in diaspora, big businesspeople, ambassadors from different countries and other tourism stakeholders will participate during the day to look for investment opportunities in Tanzania." Government institutions participating at the expo include Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE), Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA), Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC), Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) and Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS).
