Kenya:Three dead in suspected al-Shabaab bus attack

March 25, 2021

By Samuel Ouma

At least three people are reported dead and several injured after a passenger bus ran on an Improvised Explosive Devise on Wednesday morning in Mandera County, northeastern Kenya.

Some of the pictures circulated on social media indicate the bus roof ripped off and the casualties lying around the scene.

There is fear that the number of casualties will increase.

Police reports show that the bus was heading to Mandera town from Lafey.

The incident occurred just after a few days after police repelled an attack by the Somali-based extremists.

An unknown number of militants stormed a local police post and fired two Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG) and guns during the Sunday night attack.

The security agencies fired back, forcing the attackers to escape.

No injury was reported.

Security had been beefed in the area following reports of a planned attack by the militants.
