Five people were killed on Monday following a severe clash between public members and security officers in Angata Barrikoi, Narok County, Kenya’s SouthWestern, over alleged land grabbing.
Residents of Angata Barrikoi took to the streets to stop the demarcation of the contested 6300-acre land when the clash erupted.

Among the deceased is a school teacher. They were taken to the morgue pending investigations.

In retaliation, the angry residents torched vehicles belonging to the government officials, escalating the clash further.
The land in question is purported to belong to one of the powerful politicians.

Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has condemned the killings, saying he will not sit and watch people’s lands being taken away unprocedurally.

“I am deeply saddened by the reported news of the killings in Angata Barikoi. My heartfelt condolences to all affected. I want to assure you that no one can take your land from you,” said Senator Ledama.

“As your Senator, I stand firmly with you in this difficult time. I will visit the area to gain a better understanding of the situation and offer my support. Once again, my sincere condolences.”
