China, India To Take Part In this year’s 7th Edition of Tanzania’s Geita Mining and Technology Expo

THE 7th edition of Geita Mining and Technology Exhibition which has been shelved to take shape from tomorrow October 2nd to 13th 2024 in the Tanzania’s mineral hub region, is expecting to attract the major stakeholders in mining and business sectors from China and India.

Apart major stakeholders from China and India, the expo will also attract other nations including South Africa, Burundi, Rwanda, Congo, Uganda and neighboring Kenya.

The key event which has been tailored to help propel for the metamorphosis of the mining sector in Tanzania will also be expected to feature a total of over 600 local participants who engages into diverse chain in the economic prestigious sector across the country, including the giant and small scale mining firms, as well as miners.

Speaking here today, pertaining the so far preparations ahead of the socioeconomic gala, Geita regional administrative secretary (RAS) Mohamed Jumanne Gombati said the government in the region has prepared effectively to ensure the exhibition is handled professionally in order to fetch the intend end-results.

“The exhibition is projected to create a crucial podium for the local mining stakeholders, especially the small-scale miners and companies to adopt new modern technologies for assisting them heightening their performance and standards,” he observed.

Moreover, he informed that as per the event’s schedule, the ten-day exhibition will incorporate a series of activities, including staging of special mineral tourism day, special day for the involved financial institutions, insurance firms, and as special day for social security funds.

“The event will also see a special day for the Geita indigenous ‘Wana wa Geita’ and a special day to delve on the local content in Tanzania's mining sector,” he expressed.

Being coordinated by the ministry of minerals in sync with the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade), Gombati said the event will also help to translate into reality the President Samia Suluhu Hassan economic philosophy of 4 Rs (Reconciliation, Reconciliation, reform and rebuilding).

For his part, the chairman of the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (TCCIA) for Geita Region, Eng Gabriel Robert called the large and small scale traders from Geita and from others parts within the country to take part in the key business gala.

Apart to create a number of useful economic niches, he observed: “The event will open a wider knowledge gap among the traders, not only those in mining industries, but in the whole business sector in Tanzania,”

He said the event is expected to bring the country’s business attention in the region, hence unlocking potential business opportunities for all traders to exchange key business ideas, market linkages as well as huge transactions.

“For instance, the exhibition will provide an opportunity for the food vendors, and other petty traders to market their products,” he added.

On his part, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 7th edition of Geita Mining and Technology Exhibition Charles Chacha who is also the Assistant Regional Administrative Secretary (Industry, Trade and Investment) has called on businessmen from the mining sector and other sectors to continue to register as exhibitors so that they can have a chance to participate in this year’s exhibition. "We expect to be able to see more than 20,000 people coming to this 7th International Exhibition of Minerals and Technology," he said
