BAL to Participate at CANEX Weekend 2024 in Algiers, Algeria – Oct. 16 – 18

The BAL will participate in the 2024 Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX) Weekend at the Algerian Society of Fairs and Exports Exhibition Center (SAFEX) in Algiers, Algeria, from Oct. 16 – 18.  The event will be held under the auspices of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, the African Union Commission, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, and convened by BAL marketing partner, Afreximbank.  The theme for CANEX Weekend 2024 is "One People, United in Culture, Creating for the World," reflecting on our shared aspiration to forge a global African identity through the prism of our cultural and creative enterprises.

On Friday, Oct. 18, BAL Ambassador and G League Executive Pops Mensah-Bonsu will deliver a masterclass titled "Catalyzing African Renaissance: The Confluence of Sports, Entertainment, and Development."  The session will explore how the intersection of sports, entertainment, and development is driving Africa’s renaissance, fostering economic growth, cultural enrichment, and social transformation across the continent.  It will highlight the impact of these sectors in empowering communities and shaping Africa’s future.

BAL President Amadou Gallo Fall will provide the keynote address on Friday, Oct. 18, at the start of the CANEX Weekend 2024 sidebar session titled:“Beyond the Scoreboard: Can Global Partnerships Provide Opportunities in the Sports Ecosystem?”  Amadou will highlight the growing interest in sports to provide opportunities in other sectors, including the creative and entertainment industries.  The session will also discuss Africa’s readiness to host major international events and how sports is driving the continent's economic growth across the creative economy.
