Three people have been confirmed dead following heavy rains that pounded different parts of Nairobi.
A police officer has also been reported missing after being swept away by raging floods.
David Cherise, the officer attached at Kamukunji police station, was swept away at Nairobi’s Country Bus station, rescuing four people trapped by the flash floods.
The officer was reportedly in the company of his colleagues when he encountered three women and one child trapped in one of the stalls where a concrete slab had caved in.
The incident prompted officers to respond quickly, resulting in the successful rescue of four people.
Nevertheless, when the missing officer returned to close the stalls, the remaining concrete slab collapsed, sweeping him away in the floods.
Reports indicate that the officer's AK47 rifle, which was loaded with ammunition, was swept away by the flooding.
The heavy downpour, accompanied by strong winds, destroyed several roads in Kenya's capital city, paralyzing movement for several hours.
Photos and online videos show that several roads, including the newly constructed Nairobi Expressway, were flooded on Sunday night.
The Kenya Meteorological Department has told the public to brace for heavy rains from Tuesday, March 26 to April 1.
The weathermen said the rains will be experienced in the Western part of the country, Central Highlands, Rift Valley, South-eastern lowlands, and Coast.
