South Sudan:President Kiir Joins World Leaders at NAM Summit in Kampala

KAMPALA, 19th January 2024 — President Salva Kiir Mayardit, on Friday joined other leaders from across the world for the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Kampala, Uganda.

The 19th NAM summit organized under the theme; “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence", is chaired by Ugandan President, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

NAM is the world’s second-largest organization after the United Nations, made up of 121 countries with the goal of tackling global issues affecting the member states.

South Sudan was officially admitted today into the grouping, with President Kiir expressing readiness to working with member countries to advance the interests of the people in the developing world.
