Dndi Organizes Virtual And In-Person Charity Run For Patients With Neglected Diseases

The Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi)  an international, not-for-profit research and development organization is organizing and calling for participation for a 10km charity run for patients affected by neglected diseases on 18 November,2023 in Kacheliba, West Pokot County in Kenya.

DNDi works to discover, develop and deliver treatments for neglected patients around the world. The organization says it has treatments which  are affordable and patient-friendly which  have already saved millions of lives.

The organization is asking supporters to Join  them  on November 18, 2023, as the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative hosts a 10Km run themed ‘Run for Neglected Patients’ to commemorate its 20-year anniversary.

They say that the run aims to raise awareness about neglected diseases, spotlight the crucial need for research and development for innovative patient solutions  and address the treatment gaps faced by the world's most vulnerable due to the lack of effective interventions.

DNDi says that the  event represents a pivotal opportunity to shed light on the challenges faced by neglected patients and rally for their cause.

“Your participation will amplify their voices and make their plight more visible, contributing to a world where neglected diseases are no longer overlooked.Once you run, post your efforts on social media with the hashtags #RunforNeglectedPatients or #BeatNTDs and let us know which country you are running from,’DNDi said.

For the Virtual Participation: DNDi@20 Charity 10KM Run, the DNDi@20 Charity 10KM Virtual Run will take place for three weeks from Monday 30th October 2023 to Monday 20 November 2023 at 19:00 EAT.

DNDi says that one can be part of this historic moment and can choose their desired route in whichever location they are  are in, as long as they  are able to record the 10KM distance.

​Participation in the virtual run is  free. Donations will go towards research and development efforts and facilitating access to treatments for neglected populations in Eastern Africa.

DNDI is also encouraging participants  to wear a piece of orange accessory they  may have, it can be a wristband, cap, t-shirt, shoes, track suit and a  waist bag, just to mention a few. They can print the accessory with the marathon brand.
