Tanzania: Samia appoints new Chancellor for Nelson Mandela-African Institution of Science and Technology

The President of United Republic of Tanzania Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed Omar Issa the new Chancellor of the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST).

The statement issued on Thursday morning by the Director of Presidential Communications Zuhura Yunus, said Issa is taking over from the former Vice President Dr Ghalib Bilal whose tenure comes to an end at NM-AIST.

On another development, the Head of State has also appointed Professor Abel Makubi as Executive Director of Muhimbili Orthopedic Institute (MOI). Prof Makubi replaces Dr Respicious Boniface whose tenure comes to an end at MOI.

The statement also said thta President Samia has also named Dr Abdulhamid Mzee as the new Chancellor at National Defense College (NDC). Dr Mzee was a retired Chief Secretary in the revolutionary government of Zanzibar. Mzee is taking over from Dr Martern Lumbanga whose tenure ended.

The state house statement went on to say that President Samia has also appointed Dr Edwin Mbede as chairperson for NMB Bank Plc for a second term.

However, all appointments are effective from June 6 this year.
