In a ruling on April 19, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Leagues and Competitions Committee awarded Homeboyz three points with two goals. The committee stated that the decisions were reached after reviewing the submissions from both teams as well as the match report from the officials. "AFC Leopards will play their next four home matches behind closed doors," said FKF. Additionally, the committee directed the 12-time Kenya Premier League champions to cater for all the medical expenses for centre referee Michael Obuya who was injured during the chaos caused by their fans. FKF further said it is also investigating the Leopard's head coach Patrick Aussems and goalkeeper trainer Lawrence Webo for their conduct in the match. The match was abandoned in the 31st minute due to crowd trouble, seven minutes after Kakamega Homeboyz took the lead. The altercation started when centre referee Michael Obuya refused to penalize Homeboyz goalkeeper Farouk Shikhalo for reportedly handling the ball beyond his box, generating criticism and finally inciting the invasion. The heinous events inspired the home crowd to retaliate, engaging their opponents in running bouts and stone-throwing. The ruling will see Leopards dropping from number six to eight with 37 points.
