BUEA, Cameroon – Award-winning sports journalist and communication specialist Njie Enow Ebai has been appointed APO Group Account Director. Njie Enow who joined APO Group in 2022 as a Senior Account Manager in the team dedicated to APO Group's client, FIFA, is expected to be based in Dakar, Senegal.

“As Account Director, he will now be overseeing client accounts, the National Basketball Association, NBA, Basketball Africa League (BAL), and Mercy Ships,” said Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard, the founder, and chairman of APO Group.

“Enow is a polyvalent professional with more than a decade’s experience in journalism, media relations, communications, content creation, and public relations.”

APO, a Pan-African communications consultancy and press release distribution service, helps companies grow their businesses in Africa by using their knowledge of the continent and strong relationships to communicate their stories. The company has been the Pan-African Public Relations agency for FIFA for the past three years and is also the NBA and Basketball Africa League's Pan-African Public Relations agency.

"I'm thrilled by this promotion. I've always had a penchant for changing the narrative around Africa and helping annihilate the negative perceptions of the continent that revolve around wars, famine, underdevelopment and desperation,” Njie Enow Ebai told Pan African Visions.

“This aspiration of mine is one of the major pillars of APO Group that seeks to project a better and balanced image of the continent. Working for such an organization and getting the opportunity to enact the change I yearn for is a great privilege."

Born in Cameroon, Njie Enow carved a niche for himself as one of the best sports writers in the country, having a love for football, basketball, and cricket and contributed to many international media outlets like BBC Sports Africa and FIFA Communications.

Njie Enow has also worked as a football writer and reporter for The Guardian UK, New Frame South Africa, Blizzard, and Planet Sport while appearing as a pundit on SuperSport, SkySports, and SABC.

"I hope that my story from being a journalist at CRTV, writing for the BBC, Blizzard, the Guardian, appearing on CGTN, Skysports, Supersport, Planet Sport and handling media relations for two major sports organizations FIFA & FIBA can inspire younger Cameroonians and Africans,” Njie Enow added. “We have to believe in ourselves, work hard, make sacrifices and be open to learning. It's important to embrace every opportunity that makes you better at your job. We have a continent to build."

In 2021 Njie Enow received the International Pierre De Courbetin distinction for his contribution to the growth of sports in Cameroon. His goal is to change the narrative and perceptions around Africa via communication policies adapted to the continent that provide a new and charming perspective of Africa.

With a penchant for creativity, planning, organising, teamwork, leadership, technological awareness, and problem-solving, he worked as a Media Liaison Officer and Editor for the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).

Njie Enow holds a master’s in international Cooperation, Humanitarian Action, and Sustainable Development from the International Relations Institute of Cameroon. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Buea and started his career as a content manager for PR & COM, a sports public relations platform initially established to foster the image of budding sportsmen and women.

The 2023 International Sports Press Association, AIPS bronze medal winner worked with the Cameroon Radio Television, CRTV, between 2013 and 2022. He served as sports editor from June 2017 to October 2019 and was later named Head of Sports of Cameroon’s National Radio in October 2019.
