In the wake of accusations of corruption within Tanzania's political sphere, prominent opposition leader Tundu Lissu stands resolute in his commitment to transparency and accountability. Following remarks by Amos Makalla, the Secretary of Ideology, Training, and Propaganda of the ruling party CCM, urging Chadema to address alleged financial improprieties, Lissu reiterated his stance at a public gathering in Mpwapwa District, Dodoma region.
Addressing supporters, Lissu emphasized the importance of vigilance against corrupt practices, stating, "This corruption that is destroying the nation needs to be discussed internally, not publicly." Despite facing criticism from within his party for his outspokenness, Lissu maintains that addressing corruption publicly is essential for cleansing the political landscape.
Critics within Chadema have questioned Lissu's approach, advocating for internal dialogue over public condemnation. However, Lissu remains undeterred, asserting, "Speaking publicly cleanses the party, it shows the members and Tanzanians that we don't want corruption, neither within nor outside the party."
