Kenya ends World Cup qualifiers win drought

By Samuel Ouma Kenya on Monday recorded their first win in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Harambee Stars beat Amavubi Stars of Rwanda 2-1 in the last Group E match played at Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi. Two first half goals from Michael Olunga and Richard Odada were enough for Kenya to end their failed campaign on a high note. Rwanda’s only goal was put at the back of the net by Niyonzima Olivier in the 67^th minute. The result means Kenya has finished third in the group with 6 points. Mali leads the group with 16 points and Uganda is second with 9 points. The East African nation began their campaign against Uganda which ended 0-0. Stars then suffered a shocking 1-1 draw to Rwanda in their second match. To add salt to an injury, Engin First charges were humiliated 5-0 by Mali in Morocco before losing 1-0 to the West Africans in the return leg in Nairobi.
