On Wednesday, Kenya's Chief opposition leader paid a visit to the families of the late Tanzanian Presidents Benjamin Mkapa and John Magufuli.
The ODM party leader was accompanied by his daughter Winnie Odinga
"I passed by to visit the families of my good friends Presidents Benjamin Mkapa and John Magufuli. Great to see Mama Anna Mkapa and Mama Janeth Magufuli in high spirits. May their souls rest in eternal peace,” tweeted Odinga.
Odinga passed by Tanzania on his way back to Kenya from Zambia, where he was one of the dignitaries who witnessed the inauguration of president Hakainde Hichilema.
The AU envoy arrived in the South African nation on Monday and was received by government officials from an airport in Lusaka.
Kenya was also represented by President Uhuru Kenyatta accompanied by Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary James Macharia.
While in Zambia, Kenyatta held talks with President Hakainde Hichilema. He assured him of Kenya's commitment to deepening bonds of friendship, economic ties, and diplomatic collaboration in furtherance of shared values and common goals between the two African nations.
President Hichilema trounced his predecessor Edgar Lungu in an election held on August 12, 2021. It was his 6th presidential attempt, having failed the previous ones.
