The AfriSummit 2024, organized by PRA Consultancy and Hubplus Events, is set to take place from November 3-6, 2024, at the Grand Nile Tower in Cairo, Egypt.

The four-day event will bring together people from the pharmaceutical industry, medical device sector, regulatory bodies, and global health organizations.

Its main aim is to improve healthcare regulations in Africa, ensuring everyone can access safe, effective, high-quality medicines.

Dr. Najiba Al Shezawy, co-founder of AfriSummit, believes that aligning regulations across Africa is essential for improving health services.

“Regulatory harmonization ensures all Africans have access to safe and effective medicines. AfriSummit is key in making significant strides in this area,” she said.

The summit will feature expert speakers from national and international regulatory bodies and the pharmaceutical industry.

Some key topics will include regulation compliance, the latest innovations, and ways to improve access to medicines.

On the other hand, special workshops will focus on Pharmacovigilance (drug safety monitoring) and eCTD (electronic submissions of drug information).

One of the highlights will be a presentation by AUDA-NEPAD on the current state of the African Medicines Agency (AMA).

The summit will also host discussions on important issues like changes in post-approval drug regulations and fighting counterfeit medical devices in Africa.

The African pharmaceutical market is expanding rapidly, and by 2027, it is projected to be valued at more than $70 billion. AfriSummit 2024 is expected to align legislation, making it easier and faster to adopt innovative medicines and enhance healthcare results.

Dr. Mona al Moussli, co-founder of AfriSummit, expressed her excitement about the upcoming event.

“The 4th edition of AfriSummit in Cairo highlights the importance of harmonization and reliance in Africa. This year’s summit will be a catalyst for positive change in the pharmaceutical regulatory landscape across the continent,” she stated.
