The African Petroleum Producers' Organization (APPO), the leading institution on Africa's hydro-carbon matters, has announced changes to its board of directors.
In a statement following the recent 44th Ordinary Session Of The Council Of Ministers, APPO announced the appointment of Adolphe Moudiki of Cameroon and Bruno Jean Richard Itoua, Minister of Hydro-carbons of the Republic of Congo, as APPO President and Alternate President for the year 2024, respectively.
Adolphe Moudiki has been the Director-General of the National Hydro-carbons firm (SNH), Cameroon's state oil firm, since 1993.
Simultaneously, Stev Simplice Onanga of the Republic of Congo and Dominique Wetshondo Osomba of the Democratic Republic of the Congo were named Chairman and Alternate Chairman of the APPO Executive Board for 2024, respectively.
Mr. Samou Seidou Adambi, Minister of Energy, Water, and Mines of the Republic of Benin and President of APPO, presided over the session.
Ministers and heads of delegation from the organization's 16 member countries were also present, as was the Secretary General of APPO and Managing Director of the Africa Energy Investment Corporation, AEICorp.
“The Council of Ministers of the African Petroleum Producers' Organization (APPO) has reaffirmed the resolve of its Member Countries to commit to the success of the Africa Energy Bank in its quest for funding for the development of African Regional Energy Infrastructure in the various regions of the continent for energy security and sustainable development,” read the statement in part.
During the session, the Council applauded the progress in establishing the Africa Energy Bank in collaboration with Afreximbank.
It urged Member Countries to fully support the Bank by making capital contributions and ratifying the Establishment Agreement.
President Seidou thanked Patrice Guillaume Athanase Talon, President of the Republic of Benin, and the good people of Benin for their support of APPO from its inception, as well as the exceptional arrangements made for the 2023 Statutory Meetings.
