The campaign has seen over 409 medical consultations and six surgeries—both minor and major—on the first day at Mary Health of Africa Hospital in Fontem

FONTEM, Cameroon – LECUDO-USA, in collaboration with its partners, has successfully launched its 2025 free health campaign, providing several medical consultations and six surgeries—both minor and major—on the first day at Mary Health of Africa Hospital in Fontem. This initiative aims to improve healthcare access for the people of Fontem and Fonjumetaw.

The campaign, supported by Nwacudo-USA, Life Bridge International, Cameroon Oncology, Purpose Medical Mission, Healing Beyond the Horizon, and other organizations, continues to expand its reach and impact, offering vital healthcare services to the Lebang community and beyond.

With joy and relief evident on their faces, many beneficiaries struggled to find words to express their gratitude. "When I heard about this free health campaign, I never expected it to be so well-organized and sophisticated. The quality of service I received today is beyond my imagination. I can only thank our sons and daughters for making this possible," said Nkemguso Ben.

Life-Changing Interventions

For some, the campaign provided much-needed medical solutions. "That’s my daughter on the bed. She had been suffering from stomach issues for months, but today, thanks to this campaign, she has undergone a free operation. The joy in my heart is immeasurable," shared a grateful father.

LECUDO-USA and its partners remain committed to providing quality healthcare services to the community at no cost. "Our goal is to treat as many people as possible for free, addressing their health concerns and ensuring they receive the necessary medical care both during and after the campaign," stated Mr Ben Fuaminka, President of LECUDO-USA.

Beyond offering free consultations and treatments, the campaign emphasizes educating patients on medication use to prevent complications. "Education is one of our priorities. We teach patients the importance of taking their medication correctly. Since many of our beneficiaries are elderly, we ensure communication is in the Nweh language, with 80% of our personnel being from the Bangwa land to facilitate understanding," Ben Fuaminka explained.

To prevent medication shortages, the organization has stocked a sufficient supply, with 80% sourced from the USA and additional supplies from Dschang to ensure uninterrupted treatment.

Ensuring Follow-Up Care

Recognizing the importance of post-treatment care, LECUDO-USA has introduced a 90-day follow-up program. "We have implemented a free 90-day follow-up plan to monitor patients’ health after the campaign. Medications will also be sent to Mary Health of Africa to ensure all patients on the follow-up list receive continued care," Dr. Fuaminka assured.

Doctors will also remain accessible to patients via contact information recorded in their hospital booklets, ensuring ongoing support. "Even after 90 days, health issues may arise. That’s why we urge family members to continue providing care beyond the campaign," he added.

The campaign provides services such as surgery, consultations, X-rays, gynaecology, mental health care, lab work, medical referrals, eye care, cancer screenings, and hypertension and diabetes screenings.

For many, this initiative has saved both time and money. "I come from Njeh. Usually, I have to travel to Limbe for treatment, but today, I received quality care close to home, saving both time and money. I can only say a big thank you to the entire team," said Ngufor Paul.

Others see the campaign as a way to reconnect the community, especially in the wake of the ongoing crisis. "There’s a saying in the Nweh language: when your brother climbs a plum tree, you must eat a black plum. This campaign brings people together. I’ve seen people today whom I haven’t seen in years due to the crisis. For that, I am truly grateful," expressed Awunfuet Francis.

With the free health campaign continuing in Fontem and Fonjumetaw, more people are expected to benefit, with word-of-mouth spreading positive testimonials throughout the community. This initiative offers a new sense of hope for those in need of quality healthcare.
