The Airports Company of Zimbabwe (ACZ) has completed installation of a brand new satellite fire station at Harare’s R.G. Mugabe International Airport in Zimbabwe.
ACZ said that the ultramodern facility, pre-emptively positioned for rapid response, will enhance airport safety measures for both travellers and aircraft.
‘The fire fighters and their expert apparatus stand ready to warrant a swift and effective response to any airport emergency situation,’ ACZ said.
Recently,leading government delegates toured the glamorous VVIP Pavilion at the R.G. Mugabe International Airport which has been under development and now completed.
The Vice President Retired General Dr. Constantine Chiwenga, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Joshua Sacco, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Barbara Rwodzi, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Dr. Jenfan Muswere, Minister of Information Communication Technology Postal and Courier Services Dr. Tatenda Mavetera and other government officials recently toured the airport which is being upgraded to international standards.
ACZ Airports Development Manager Engineer Shamiso Makova guided the high-level delegation, updating on them on the landmark infrastructure project that will welcome regional leaders during the upcoming 44th SADC Summit to be held in Zimbabwe on 17 and 18 August,2024.
ACZ also said that essential landscaping and roadworks have begun on Airport Road and inside the national gateway's premises.
‘This is part of the Airport Beautification Exercise to unify the standards of the newly expanded airport matching the interior aesthetics,’ACZ said.
ACZ also said that for domestic travelers, refurbishment of R.G. Mugabe International Airport Domestic Terminal is on track expected to be completed by beginning of September 2024.
They said that the enhancements include installing new passenger facilitation equipment including structure overhauling.
ACZ said that it is excited to unveil a seamless modernised domestic terminal, while preserving the classic national heritage aesthetics at the international airport.
