Football Kenya Federation (FKF) announced major changes to the women's league structure ahead of the 2023/24 season on Thursday.
One of the key developments is the introduction of the FKF Women's National Super League, a second-tier women's league. This new league will be split into two zones, Zone A and Zone B.
The FKF Women National Super League teams have been selected from those relegated from the 2022/23 FKF Women Premier League season and the top-performing teams in the 2022/23 final FKF Women Division One league standings.
Zone A will consist of teams from Nairobi and the Coast regions. At the same time, Zone B will feature teams from the Nyanza and Upper Rift Valley regions.
The FKF Women's National Super League will also be expanded further in the 2024/25 season to have ten teams in each zone.
“Additionally, the FKF Women Division One will now have action in four zones: Zone A, B, C, and D. Zone A will comprise teams from Nairobi, Central, and Eastern regions, while Zone B will host teams from the North Coast and South Coast regions,” said the FKF.
”Zone C will feature teams from Nyanza and Lower Rift regions, and Zone D will include teams from Western and Upper Rift regions,” added FKF.
The league will Kick off on October 14, 2023.
