Igbo traders in Lagos State have received assurances from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu that their security and safety are still his top priorities.
When Sanwo-Olu began a campaign tour of important cities with a large South-East population on Tuesday, he made this statement.
With the open endorsement of his re-election by the Ndigbo community in the state, he did a tour of the markets prior to this weekend's governorship election.
At the open forum, Sanwo-Olu made a commitment to ensuring the security of Ndigbo houses and companies in Lagos State.
His interactions with the traders began in response to worries expressed about the security of the homes and companies owned by South-East traders in Lagos.
"We'll continue to work with your leadership to enhance cooperation and find areas we can improve on to foster peace and stability," Sanwo-Olu said during the Trade Fair conference. We won't be unfriendly to any non-indigenous communities.
"Your safety and security will continue to be our first priority as long as you cooperate peacefully. Any law-abiding resident has no need to be alarmed.
