The President of the United Republic of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan arrived Malawi on Wednesday for a three-day state visit so as consolidate the strong bilateral relations based on historical ties, and mutual interest for the people of the two countries.
Samia’s visit to Malawi will also cement the relations between Lilongwe and Dodoma on traditional people to-people exchanges as well as promote a common interest in regional and global cooperation.
Dr Samia will also attend Malawi’s 59th independence celebrations which will be scheduled on Thursday July 6.
The Tanzanian president was received at Kamuzu International Airport by her counterpart Lazarus Chakwera and senior Malawi government officials.
The East African first female president was later on Wednesday expected to attend a prayer session to call for renewed unity among Malawians.
President Samia will also conclude her visit to Lilongwe by holding bilateral talks with and visiting some of the areas devastated by Tropical Cyclone Freddy that rocked Malawi in March.
