The Dove's campaign has been a masterclass in consistency, boasting 19 wins, 5 draws, and just a single defeat

BUEA, Cameroon – Colombe Sportive of Dja and Lobo has made history by wrapping up their first-ever MTN Elite 1 title following a 1-0 victory over Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) on Sunday, May 25 at the Yaounde Military Stadium. The narrow, decisive win sealed the championship with five matches to spare, marking a season of utter dominance.

The decisive moment came in front of a jubilant home crowd at the Yaounde Military Stadium, where a solitary goal from Brice Sindjo in the 55th minute was enough to dispatch YOSA and spark celebrations.

The triumph, sealed with five matches to spare, marks a season of unparalleled dominance and cements Colombe’s place among the nation’s footballing elite. With an impressive 62 points from 25 games, Colombe has surged 16 points clear of second-placed Gazelle FA, who has played a game more, but can no longer close the gap.

The Dove from the South Region’s campaign has been a masterclass in consistency, boasting 19 wins, 5 draws, and just a single defeat. Their attacking prowess yielded 36 goals, while their ironclad defence conceded a mere 10 – the best in the league.

While Gazelle provided strong early-season competition, a recent dip in form, marked by critical draws and losses, ultimately derailed their title ambitions.

Colombe’s journey to the top has been nothing short of remarkable. Long considered underdogs in the MTN Elite 1 Championship, they outshone early challengers like Gazelle FA, whose title hopes faded amid a string of draws and losses. Colombe's blend of defensive solidity, and tactical discipline, proved unstoppable, turning the club into a powerhouse over the course of the season.

With five games remaining, Colombe now has the luxury of celebrating early while preparing to build on this remarkable season, potentially setting new records before the final whistle of the campaign. The victory also ensures that the side has qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup for next season.
