Kenya Airways has announced a series of network adjustments for the peak season to better align with market demand and enhance operational efficiency.
Mr. Martin Gitonga, KQ’s Head of Network Planning and Alliances, stated, “In light of the current market landscape and as part of our Business Continuity Plan, Kenya Airways has made the strategic decision to make adjustments on its route networks in order to ensure smoother and more efficient operations.”
Starting from July 1, 2024, Kenya Airways has been operating daily flights to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with the addition of flights on Wednesdays and Fridays during the midday time window.
Effective August 1, 2024, the five weekly night-time flights to Johannesburg, South Africa, will be upgraded to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. This upgrade is part of the 26 weekly flights operated by Kenya Airways to Johannesburg.
Additionally, from August 1, 2024, all three weekly non-stop flights from Nairobi to Cape Town, South Africa, will be upgraded to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. This aircraft offers 30 total lie-flat seats in business class and 204 economy seats with generous seat pitch.
In Douala, Cameroon, starting August 11, 2024, all five weekly flights will be operated non-stop from Nairobi, providing shorter flight times and better connectivity through Nairobi and beyond.
However, effective August 9, 2024, Kenya Airways will suspend the five weekly flights to Bangui, Central African Republic. The cargo service to Bangui will not be affected by this suspension.
Passengers holding bookings on affected flights to or from Bangui after the suspension date will be contacted by Kenya Airways to arrange alternative travel options, including rebooking, refunds, or rerouting.
