The Ambassador of the Republic of Congo and Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps, Serge Mombouli, met on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, with Nita M. Lowey, Chairwoman of House Appropriations Committee in Washington. The discussions focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the African Union's Agenda 2063 and the key role of the African Development Bank to achieve these goals. During the meeting, Ambassador Mombouli -speaking on behalf of his colleagues in the diplomatic corps-, stressed the importance of relations  between the United States and Africa. With this in mind, he called on the partnership of chairwoman Lowey in making a strong advocacy with her fellow congressmen, as well as within the Administration, to ensure a successful 7th General Capital Increase for the African Development Bank, and 15th replenishment of the African Development Fund. According to Ambassador Mombouli, the institutional and policy reforms implemented since the 6th General Capital Increase in 2010 have enabled the Bank to substantially increase its delivery capacity, making it the best financial body to help accelerate Africa's transformation agenda.
