The Borderless Africa Campaign Team has welcomed Nigeria’s decision to grant Rwandan nationals 30-day visa-free entry, describing the move as another significant milestone toward a more connected and united Africa.
Under a new reciprocal agreement between the two countries, Nigeria has officially introduced the visa-free policy for Rwandan citizens, a step aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and easing travel across the continent.
Rwanda already offers Nigerians similar visa-free access, making travel between the two nations easier and more accessible for ordinary Africans, entrepreneurs, students, tourists, and investors.
According to the Borderless Africa Campaign Team, the agreement is expected to deepen diplomatic and economic ties, boost tourism, expand trade and business opportunities, and strengthen people-to-people relations between the two countries.
The organization said the development goes beyond a simple immigration policy change, describing it as a meaningful step toward realizing the vision of a truly borderless Africa where Africans can move, collaborate, and grow together without unnecessary restrictions.
“Every policy change like this shows that the vision of a freer and more united Africa is possible. Your support and voice as a petition signer continue to help push this movement forward,” the Borderless Africa Campaign Team said in a statement.
The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) confirmed the full implementation of the 30-day visa exemption for Rwandan nationals following a bilateral agreement reached during high-level diplomatic engagements between Nigeria and Rwanda.
The Borderless Africa Campaign is a Pan-African grassroots movement advocating for the free movement of people, goods, and services across the continent. Its primary objective is to encourage African Union member states to ratify and implement the AU Free Movement Protocol aimed at eliminating visa barriers and promoting intra-African trade and integration.
