NetOne Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority have signaled a bold shift toward a digitally empowered tourism sector following a landmark partnership event held in Arcturus, on the outskirts of Harare.

The high-level gathering brought together government officials, tourism leaders, ICT executives, and members of the media, marking what stakeholders described as a transformative step toward modernizing Zimbabwe’s tourism industry through technology.

At the event, NetOne officially handed over state-of-the-art computer equipment to the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority—an initiative framed not merely as a donation, but as a strategic investment in the country’s digital future.

Speaking on behalf of Board Chairman Taurai Maurukira, NetOne Chief Finance Officer Nyasha Nyambuya emphasized the broader vision behind the partnership:

“We are not just formalizing a partnership—we are affirming a shared vision that recognizes collaboration, innovation, and digital transformation as key drivers of national development.”

Nyambuya highlighted the government’s ongoing modernization agenda under Emmerson Mnangagwa, noting tourism’s growing importance alongside agriculture, mining, and manufacturing. She also acknowledged the role of Auxillia Mnangagwa in promoting cultural heritage and tourism development.

Representing Group CEO Engineer Raphael Mushanawani, Joseph Machiva underscored NetOne’s role as more than a telecommunications provider, positioning the company as a key enabler of economic growth and digital transformation.

“We want Zimbabwe to be more accessible to international travelers. Promoting digital services in tourism is part of our sustained effort to ensure the sector remains competitive, connected, and responsive to modern demands.”

The partnership marks a significant step toward building a digitally integrated tourism ecosystem aimed at boosting Zimbabwe’s global competitiveness and economic resilience.
