Malawian President Peter Mutharika has been honoured for outstanding leadership at the Iconic Africa Summit Honours, held in Zimbabwe—an accolade that reflects his steadfast commitment to democratic governance and regional progress.
The award was received on his behalf by Local Government Minister Ben Phiri and presented by Zimbabwe’s Vice President Kembo Mohadi, underscoring the respect and recognition President Mutharika commands across the African continent.
Speaking at the ceremony, Phiri said the honour represents Mutharika’s enduring dedication to Africa’s advancement. He emphasized the President’s role in promoting collaborative leadership, strengthening democratic institutions, and advancing policies aimed at sustainable development and economic growth.
The summit also celebrated Malawian innovation by recognizing irrigation expert Frank Mwenechanya, founder of FISD Limited Company, for his contributions to modern agriculture. His pioneering work in innovative irrigation systems, water engineering, clean-energy agribusiness, and agricultural financing continues to enhance food security and sustainable farming practices in Malawi and beyond.
Mwenechanya’s achievements highlight the transformative power of entrepreneurship and technology in driving economic development, positioning Malawi as a contributor to Africa’s sustainable future.
