Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, founder of ECG–Jesus Nation, has praised President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s State of the Nation Address (SONA), describing it as visionary, focused, and responsive to Malawi’s most pressing challenges.
President Mutharika delivered the address at the Parliament Building in Lilongwe on Friday, outlining his administration’s priorities on economic recovery, food security, governance reforms, and national development.
Reacting to the speech, Bushiri commended the president for what he described as a clear and well-articulated roadmap for national progress.
“The focus on economic recovery, food security, governance, and national development was clear and encouraging,” Bushiri said.
The prominent faith leader noted that Malawi stands at a critical juncture, requiring bold leadership and decisive policy direction to stabilize the economy and restore public confidence.
However, Bushiri emphasized that the success of the outlined plans will depend on consistent implementation, transparency, and inclusive leadership.
“When vision is matched with action, the nation truly moves forward,” he added.

His endorsement comes at a time when Malawi continues to grapple with economic strain, rising cost of living pressures, and food insecurity affecting vulnerable communities.
Political observers say Bushiri’s remarks reinforce the growing expectation among Malawians that government must now transition from policy declarations to measurable results.
With the SONA setting the tone for the legislative and economic agenda ahead, attention now turns to the administration’s ability to translate ambition into tangible outcomes.
