Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and the country’s military chief, has blocked CNN’s Larry Madowo, branding the Kenyan journalist a “Msaliti” (traitor) amid rising tensions over threats against opposition leader Bobi Wine.
The move comes after Kainerugaba issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Bobi Wine, giving him time to surrender to police or face consequences.
Kainerugaba has labeled Wine’s supporters as “terrorists” and warned that he will be treated as an outlaw if he doesn’t comply.
Bobi Wine, who rejected the election results as “fake,” has gone into hiding following a military raid on his home.
The opposition leader has accused the government of widespread fraud and intimidation.
Kainerugaba’s threats against Wine have sparked international concern, with human rights groups calling for an investigation into the matter.
The Ugandan government has downplayed the incident, describing Kainerugaba’s comments as “casual” and not reflective of official policy.
The situation in Uganda remains volatile, with reports of violence and arrests of opposition supporters.
The international community is watching closely as the country navigates this turbulent period.
