A U.S.-based Cameroonian tech entrepreneur from the Lebialem Division has unveiled a digital platform designed to transform the way skilled service providers connect with customers across Cameroon.
Michaedis Ateawung, a young and enterprising native of Lebialem Division who was born and raised in Menji, is the brain behind Clo, a home-grown digital application designed to link skilled service providers directly with customers, while helping small businesses grow beyond their immediate communities.
Unlike many tech ideas conceived in boardrooms, the concept for Clo emerged from lived experience. Growing up in Menji, Ateawung was surrounded by remarkable yet under-recognised talent: skilled mechanics, gifted hairdressers, reliable plumbers, talented handymen and neighbourhood restaurants renowned for their food. Despite their expertise, many of these service providers struggled to expand their businesses.
“The challenge was never a lack of skill,” Ateawung explains. “It was exposure. Too many talented people remain invisible simply because they lack the tools to reach customers beyond their immediate surroundings.”
This realisation became the foundation for Clo. Working with a team of passionate professionals, Ateawung developed the platform as a digital bridge between local talent and market demand. Clo functions both as a service marketplace and a business management tool, enabling customers to easily locate trusted service providers while allowing entrepreneurs to present their services in a professional and organised manner.
Built with inclusivity in mind, Clo is designed to serve both major urban centres and underserved communities. The platform is operational in cities such as Douala and Yaoundé, while also reaching smaller neighbourhoods, including Mile 16 and similar localities often overlooked by mainstream digital services.
Through a mobile-friendly interface, Clo allows customers to quickly find reliable services, while empowering service providers with tools to manage orders, track business growth and access new opportunities.
Beyond convenience, the Clo team says its broader vision is to help structure Cameroon’s largely informal economy. By equipping local businesses—from delivery riders and artisans to restaurant owners—with digital tools, the platform aims to promote sustainability, professionalism and long-term growth.
As part of its rollout strategy, Clo plans to onboard its first 100 “Founding Providers,” carefully selected businesses expected to set quality and service standards on the platform.
Positioned as a solution built for local realities, Clo reflects Ateawung’s roots and commitment to community development. “Clo is built for Cameroon, by Cameroonians,” the team affirms.
With its official launch underway, the platform is calling on service providers and customers nationwide to join the initiative, driven by the simple goal to ensure that no talent in Cameroon remains hidden.
