Gor Mahia climbed to the summit of the SportPesa Premier League after a commanding 4-1 victory over Kariobangi Sharks on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
The record Kenyan champions asserted control early in the contest, with playmaker Ben Stanley opening the scoring in the 20th minute. Gor Mahia maintained the pressure and were rewarded again before the break when Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw doubled the lead, giving the hosts a comfortable advantage at half-time.
Kariobangi Sharks showed renewed intent after the restart and briefly threatened a comeback when Humphrey Aroko pulled one back in the 57th minute.
However, Gor Mahia responded with composure and authority, restoring their two-goal cushion through Samuel Kapen, who found the net in the 80th minute.
Substitute Felix Oluoch sealed the convincing win seven minutes later, scoring Gor Mahia’s fourth to put the result beyond doubt and cap a dominant performance.
The victory lifts Gor Mahia to the top of the league standings with 26 points from 13 matches, moving two points clear of Kakamega Homeboyz and AFC Leopards sit fourth, also within touching distance as the title race gathers momentum.
Gor Mahia will look to extend their fine run of form when they face Shabana FC in their next league fixture on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
