Vice President Dr. Jane Ansah has expressed profound gratitude to President Professor Peter Mutharika for choosing her as his running mate in the September 16, 2025 elections.
She made the remarks on Sunday at the Malawi Adventist University grounds in Ntcheu during a Maseko Ngoni thanksgiving ceremony held in her honour.
Dr. Ansah said the ceremony would not have been possible if President Mutharika had not entrusted her with the responsibility of serving as Vice President.
She commended Inkosi Ya Makosi Gomani V for his dedication to preserving and promoting the Maseko Ngoni cultural heritage.
In his remarks, Inkosi Ya Makosi Gomani V urged the Maseko Ngoni community to love one another and to continue safeguarding their rich traditions.
He extended his appreciation to President Mutharika for appointing Dr. Ansah as his running mate, saying the people of Ntcheu were deeply grateful for the gesture.
“The Maseko Ngoni, and all the people of Ntcheu, are thankful for what President Mutharika did,” he said.
Member of Parliament for Ntcheu North West, Joseph Malingamoyo, also praised President Mutharika for making what he described as the right and timely decision.
Malingamoyo encouraged all Malawians, regardless of social standing or political affiliation, to unite and work collectively toward the country’s development.

Earlier in the day, Dr. Ansah symbolically distributed piglets to five Group Village Heads and two other individuals in a gesture aimed at supporting household income and food security.
She urged the beneficiaries to take good care of the livestock, noting that pig farming provides both nutritional value and economic opportunities.
A total of twenty-eight Group Village Heads across Senior Chief Njolomole’s area are expected to benefit from the pig distribution initiative.
