Kenya Premier League team Bandari Football Club has parted ways with Moroccan head coach Mohamed Borji just two months after he took the helm, following a disappointing streak that has left the Dockers struggling near the bottom of the league standings.
In an official statement released on Thursday, the club announced that Borji and his assistant, Tarik Bendamou, have been let go effective immediately.
This decision, according to Bandari FC, came after a thorough review of the team’s technical direction in light of their ongoing poor performance.
Borji, who stepped in at the beginning of October, has not been able to spark a turnaround for the Mombasa-based club. Currently, Bandari sits in 14th place on the Kenya Premier League table, with just 12 points from 11 matches, a situation that has raised concerns among both fans and club management.
“This decision follows a review of the team’s technical direction as the club focuses on restrategizing its performance. We thank Coach Borji and Tarik for their contributions during their time at the club,” the statement read.
During Borji’s brief tenure, Bandari struggled to find their footing, racking up several draws and losses that brought them perilously close to the relegation zone. The pressure has been mounting on the coaching staff as the team failed to make the most of their home games and showed tactical weaknesses in crucial matches.
The club has announced that Coach Razak Siwa will take over on an interim basis as Bandari gears up for their upcoming fixtures. New technical arrangements and potential candidates for the head coach position are expected to be revealed in the coming days.
