BUEA, Cameroon – The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) has joined its members worldwide to celebrate its 68th anniversary, marking a momentous milestone in its journey of faith and community service.

The annual Presbyterian Church Day, celebrated in November, commemorates the PCC's independence from the Basel Mission. Since November 1957, the PCC has been headquartered in Buea, Cameroon, with an indigenous management body that oversees the Church’s activities. This year’s theme, “Together in Christ, Strengthened through Stewardship,” reflects a renewed commitment to unity, responsibility, and the Church’s mission in a rapidly changing world.

In his inspiring speech broadcast at Presbyterian Church Molyko Buea, the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, the Right Rev Miki Hans Abia, emphasised the importance of stewardship, stating, "We as stewards are accountable for how we manage and multiply these gifts."

He called upon all Presbyterians to embrace stewardship not just as the care of resources but as a guiding principle for every aspect of life within the Church. This message resonated deeply with attendees, reminding them of their sacred calling to uphold the values and mission entrusted to them by their forebears.

During the event, the Parish pastor of PC Molyko, Rev Mrs Tabi Pascaline, reminded attendees that stewardship transcends mere ownership; “it is about caring for the gifts entrusted to them by God.” Emphasising the theme of "Together in Christ, Strengthened through Stewardship," she encouraged her congregation to recognise that their talents and resources are not theirs to claim but to use in the service of the One who called them.

She expressed immense gratitude for the turnout, noting that nearly 95 per cent of the members were present, a demonstration of their commitment and enthusiasm. "It is not by our making, but by the grace of God that we can come together to celebrate,” Rev Mrs Tabi Pascaline reflected, acknowledging those unable to join due to various circumstances.

In his sermon, Rev Mbuh Livingston, Lecturer at the Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Kumba, echoed the importance of humility and service, urging congregants to use their gifts for community building rather than division.

He cautioned against the misuse of social media to discredit the Church, reinforcing that the “PCC is God’s Church, not a human institution.” Highlighting Ephesians 4:10, he reminded the congregation of their divine mandate to serve one another and embody love and unity, particularly in a time of societal challenges.

The celebration at PC Molyko was marked by various activities, including presentations of songs by different congregational groups, the cutting of the anniversary cake, a Young Presbyterian (YP) parade, and Memory verses by Sunday school kids, among others.
