BUEA, Cameroon – The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, has praised administrative and security officials in the Adamawa Region for maintaining peace and stability in the wake of the recent presidential election.

This was the key message delivered by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, during a high-level security meeting held in Maroua on Monday, November 10, 2025. The meeting brought together the Governor of the Far North, Midjiyawa Bakary, senior divisional and divisional officers, and top officials of the defense and security forces.

Representing the Head of State, President Paul Biya, Minister Atanga Nji delivered a message of peace, reassurance, and civic responsibility to the population in the wake of post-election disturbances recorded in some localities. He emphasised that his mission was to assess the security situation and ensure that calm and confidence are fully restored across the region.

“The Head of State’s November 6 inauguration speech provides a clear roadmap for the years ahead, one anchored on peace, unity, and shared prosperity,” Minister Atanga Nji stated. He commended the defence and security forces for their professionalism and restraint in managing the protests, preventing irreversible damage while protecting lives and property.

The Minister also praised administrative authorities for their collaboration with the forces of law and order, which, he noted, has been instrumental in maintaining the region’s stability. However, he condemned acts of vandalism carried out after the election, reportedly instigated by what he described as “irresponsible politicians driven by manipulation and misinformation.”

According to reports presented during the meeting, over 300 youths aged between 12 and 17 were intercepted in various localities while under the influence of drugs and other narcotic substances during post-election security operations.

Minister Atanga Nji expressed concern over the involvement of young people in unlawful activities and called on parents and community leaders to educate children on civic values and respect for the rule of law. He cautioned: “We must teach our children civic responsibility so that they do not fall into the net of justice or become tools in the hands of malicious actors.”

Reiterating the Head of State’s call for peace and unity, Minister Atanga Nji urged the people of the Far North, often referred to as the “Elder Daughter of the Renaissance”, to continue fostering peaceful coexistence among the region’s diverse sociological components, a hallmark of its long-standing stability.

He reaffirmed the government's determination to track down and bring to justice all those who attempt to destabilise the nation. "Cameroon is a serious country that must not fall into the hands of adventurers and early-hour arsonists," he declared.

The Minister lauded the population for rejecting the “dictatorship of irresponsible politicians” and for refusing to be swayed by misinformation campaigns on social media aimed at creating chaos.

Minister Paul Atanga Nji called on all local leaders, parents, and youth associations to uphold peace, respect state institutions, and support the Head of State’s vision for national development. He said: “Let us continue to build Cameroon together in unity, peace, and stability.”
