The President of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), Mr. Yacine Idriss Diallo, has added another string to his bow. On October 21, 2025, he was appointed Honorary Consul of the Bahamas in Côte d’Ivoire, a distinction that recognizes his career and influence far beyond the football pitch.
The official ceremony took place at the Bahamian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he received his letter of assignment from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honorable Frederick Mitchell.

In a friendly atmosphere, the head of Bahamian diplomacy welcomed this appointment, emphasizing “the desire of the Bahamian government to strengthen its ties with West Africa, and in particular with Côte d’Ivoire, a country of stability and economic dynamism.”
During the ceremony, the two men discussed ways to boost bilateral cooperation in several areas of mutual interest. Discussions focused on opportunities for collaboration in the economic, agricultural, tourism, and sports sectors. He particularly emphasized the need to build concrete partnerships based on the complementarities between the Bahamas, a Caribbean tourism hub, and Côte d’Ivoire, the economic powerhouse of West Africa.
“I fully appreciate the responsibility that the Government of the Bahamas has given me. My ambition is to bring our two nations closer together and open up new perspectives of cooperation for the benefit of our peoples,” the new Honorary Consul said at the end of his visit.

After this official meeting, the new Honorary Consul was received by the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, the Honorable Philip A. Davis, with whom he had a brief but warm meeting.
With this appointment, relations between Côte d’Ivoire and the Bahamas are now taking on a new dimension. Combining sport, economic diplomacy, and cultural outreach, Yacine Idriss Diallo intends to use his term as a lever to showcase Côte d’Ivoire in the Caribbean and attract the interest of Bahamian investors to Ivorian potential.
Another step forward for this Ivorian leader who, true to his reputation as a man of networking and action, finds himself once again at the crossroads of sport, diplomacy and development.
