The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has raised more than Ksh69.7 million (USD 536,000) from the sale of five properties recovered from former Migori Governor Okoth Obado and former Nairobi County Treasury official Stephen Ogaga Osiro.
The assets were auctioned on October 9, 2025, through a public auction as part of an ongoing court-sanctioned recovery process targeting proceeds of corruption. The recovery process stems from rulings in Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Suit No. 20 of 2018 and Suit No. 10 of 2021.
According to the Commission, the properties sold were located in Nairobi and all fetched prices above their reserve values. Among them was a Riara Apartment No. FF3, a three-bedroom unit, which sold for Ksh14,000,000 (USD 108,000).
A three-bedroom apartment at Greenspan Estate was auctioned for Ksh6,950,000 (USD 53,500), while a two-bedroom unit in the same estate sold for Ksh6,755,000 (USD 52,000).
Additionally, a maisonette at Greenspan Estate, Unit No. 279, was sold for Ksh11,000,000 (USD 84,600), and a townhouse at Loresho Ridge Estate fetched the highest bid at Ksh31,000,000 (USD 238,500). Together, the five properties realized a total of Ksh69,705,000 (USD 536,000).
In accordance with Section 56C of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act, all proceeds from the sale of recovered assets will be deposited into the Consolidated Fund.
The EACC said that the disposal exercise demonstrates its commitment to ensuring that individuals involved in corruption and economic crimes do not benefit from illegally acquired wealth.
“The Commission reiterates its commitment to tracing and recovering proceeds of corruption and unexplained wealth to ensure that perpetrators of corruption and economic crimes do not benefit from their ill-gotten wealth,” said Stephen Karuga, the Head of Corporate Affairs and Communication at EACC.
The remaining properties, located in Kisumu and Migori Counties, are scheduled for public auction on October 16, 2025.
The Commission has invited members of the public to take part in the process, which aims to recover additional assets linked to the two former officials.
