A group of doctors from Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Hospital in Kerala, India, where Raila Odinga passed away, has arrived in Kenya to pay their final respects.
The delegation was received on Thursday morning, October 30, 2025, by Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir at his office.
They were accompanied by Rosemary Odinga, the daughter of the late Kenyan opposition leader.
Governor Nassir said that the visit highlights the profound and far-reaching influence Raila Odinga had around the globe.
“They are here to honor a man whose life and legacy crossed borders,” he stated.
“The worldwide outpouring of love for Baba reflects his remarkable journey, one marked by bravery, compassion, and a steadfast dedication to justice and humanity.”
He also paid homage to Raila’s lasting vision, asserting that his legacy will continue to guide the nation.
“May his spirit inspire us to create the Kenya he envisioned united, just, and filled with hope,” he added.
Raila suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed while taking a morning walk at the Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital and Research Centre on October 15.
He was quickly taken to a private hospital in Koothattukulam, a municipality in Kerala, India, where efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was declared dead.
The former Prime Minister and long-time leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) had previously received treatment at a hospital in Mumbai.
