Eight Hungarian citizens, 2 Germans and a Kenyan pilot have died after an aircraft they were traveling crashed in Kwale, Kenya.
A Mombasa Air Safari aircraft crashed while making its way from Diani to the Maasai Mara, claiming the lives of all 11 individuals on board.
In a statement, Mombasa Air Safari Limited confirmed that the aircraft, with the registration number 5Y-CCA, was involved in an accident on October 28, 2025, during a scheduled domestic flight between Diani Airport and Kichwa Tembo Airstrip in the Maasai Mara. Unfortunately, there were no survivors.
“We are deeply saddened to share that, based on preliminary information, there were 10 passengers consisting of 8 Hungarians and 2 Germans along with 1 Kenyan crew member (the Captain) on board. Tragically, there are no survivors. Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone affected by this devastating event,” the airline stated, signed by Chairman John M. Cleave.
The airline said it has activated its emergency response team and is collaborating closely with Kenyan aviation authorities to investigate the cause of the crash.
A Family Assistance Team has also been set up to offer counseling, logistical support, and other assistance to the families of the victims.
The flight was intended to connect one of Kenya’s popular coastal tourist spots with the Maasai Mara National Reserve, a globally recognized wildlife haven.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority and emergency teams are currently on-site, conducting recovery and investigation efforts.
Mombasa Air Safari expressed profound regret over the incident and has committed to providing further updates as the investigation unfolds.
