Kenya’s Harambee Stars bounced back to winning ways with a resounding 5-0 victory over Seychelles in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier played at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The East Africans got off to a flying start when forward Ryan Ogam opened the scoring in the 6th minute, sending home a composed finish to settle early nerves.

Defender Collins Sichenje doubled the lead in the 34th minute with a powerful strike, before Ogam struck again just three minutes later to make it 3-0.

Captain Michael Olunga added the fourth goal just before halftime, ensuring Kenya went into the break with a commanding advantage. The Al-Arabi striker completed his brace in the 66th minute, sealing a dominant performance for Benni McCarthy’s side.

The emphatic win came just a week after Kenya’s World Cup hopes took a dent with a 3-1 defeat to The Gambia. Despite the victory, Harambee Stars still face an uphill task in Group F, where Ivory Coast lead with 19 points, followed by Gabon (18 points) andBurundi (10 points). Kenya now sits in fourth place with 9 points, two clear of The Gambia, who play Burundi later today. Seychelles remain bottom, having lost all eight of their matches without registering a single point.

Only the group winner will qualify directly for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

For Kenya, the convincing result restores some confidence, but the road to their first-ever World Cup is over.
