Former Malawi President Peter Mutharika, the president of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), recently explained his absence from public events, stating he has been focused on assembling a dedicated team and strategies to implement as the party aims to regain power.
His remarks come in response to growing criticism, particularly from his running mate, Jane Ansah, who has been actively rallying support for the former ruling party.
In a post on his Facebook page, Mutharika shared that the strategic plans he has been developing are now ready for action.
“As we embark on this historic mission, I invite you to join us. Just as the people of Lilongwe and Ntcheu have united today, participate in our stopovers and rallies. Spread the word about the message of hope from the Democratic Progressive Party – DPP.
“Above all, remember to vote on September 16 for the leadership that has consistently worked to lower inflation, uphold the rule of law, and ensure access to essentials like fuel, foreign exchange, and passports,” Mutharika emphasized.
The former president is gearing up for rallies in the northern region this Friday, beginning at Jenda Trading Centre in Mzimba, followed by stops at Mzuzu roundabout.
The law Professor is among 16 candidates challenging the incumbent Lazarus Chakwera for Presidency this September 16th.
