Mosu, Botswana – In the heart of the remote Mosu village, Botswana, a wave of excitement and pride filled the air as Mosu Primary School hosted the 2024 Primary School Leaving Examinations Top Achievers Award Ceremony.
This remarkable event celebrated the exceptional academic accomplishments of its students, shining a spotlight on their hard work and dedication. The ceremony was honored by the presence of Mr. Tidimalo Tito, Senior Mining Manager at Debswana’s Orapa, Letlhakane & Damtshaa Mines (OLDM), who delivered a powerful speech on the transformative power of motivation in achieving academic success.
Mr. Tito emphasized that motivation is a key driver for students to excel academically. “When students are motivated, they are more likely to put in the effort required to achieve their goals,” he stated. His words resonated with the audience, highlighting the importance of fostering a supportive and encouraging environment for learners.
In a significant effort to enhance the educational environment, OLDM, in collaboration with Orange Botswana, made a generous donation of a Digital School Kit and boarding kits in 2024. This initiative aimed to provide students with the necessary resources to support their studies and improve their learning experience. The Digital School Kit included essential tools such as tablets, e-books, and internet access, enabling students to engage with digital learning platforms and resources.
Additionally, Learner Officials made a remarkable pledge of P1,000 for each student who achieved a grade A. This financial incentive proved to be highly effective, motivating students to strive for excellence. The results were impressive, with nine students earning grade A, contributing to a 64.8% pass rate, a significant increase from the 57.7% pass rate in 2023.
Mr. Isaiah Lekang, representing the Learner Officials, also addressed the audience, emphasizing the crucial role of parental involvement in children’s education. He urged parents to remain actively engaged in their children’s academic journey, stating.
The ceremony not only celebrated the achievements of the top students but also highlighted the positive impact of community support and motivation on academic performance.
