Dr Noblin Ogbonna a resident doctor at the Veterans Hospital in New York, Co- Founder of Igbo Amaka Cultural Institute, and Founder and Executive Director of SDG-3 Global Health Initiative has been honored with a life time achievement award from the Biden administration.
“With grateful recognition AmeriCorps and the Office of the President of the United States Honors Dr Noblin N Ogbonna with the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for their lifelong commitment to building a stronger nation through volunteer service,” read the Award personally signed by President by President Joe Biden.
The recognition presented to Dr Noblin Ogbonna during the recent African Women’s day in the presence of some government officials and diplomats caps a life of relentless voluntarism, community, and professional services of the young leader.
“I am always satisfied and fulfilled when I serve and give back to humanity, hence I am honored to receive this award. This is to remind everyone that whatever you are doing someone is watching and I pray for everyone serving humanity and giving back to the society that you be crowned and honored,” Dr Obonna said in reaction to the recognition.
Originally from Nigeria, dynamic and hardworking, Dr Noblin Ogbonna’s specialty in Foot and Ankle surgery has been put to ample use at the Veterans Hospital in New York. With the Igbo Amaka Cultural Institute, she has been instrumental in teaching the young, adults and professionals Igbo language & culture, and offering Igbo translation services. Thanks to her efforts and leadership, there are a growing number of institutions in MD and across the USA that are giving a serious shot at teaching the Igbo language.
With the SDG-3 Global Health Initiative, Dr. Ogbonna has been a strong advocate of actions and initiatives promoting good health and well-being as stipulated by the United Nations. In SDG-3 Global Health Initiative, she alongside her incredible team members hosts monthly health awareness campaigns, educate youths globally on essential healthcare skills and organize free medical outreach programs in underserved communities within the US and beyond. Under her leadership, SDG-3 has carried out medical missions to Africa notably in Nigeria and Uganda.
The Senate of Maryland recently approved the appointment of Dr Noblin Ogbonna as a Member of the Advisory Council on Youth Camp Safety to serve the remainder of a term of three years.
