The Canadian government's embassy in Kenya is providing intensive operational intelligence training to 20 detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau.
The course officially kicked off on Monday, January 29, 2024, and is facilitated by experts from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
In his opening remarks, Kenya's Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Director, Mohamed Amin, praised officers who received similar training for their expertise.
Amin acknowledged their meticulous intelligence analysis, emphasizing its importance in resolving numerous complex cases.
The remarks were delivered by the Director of Planning, Mr Baraza Walumoli, who represented Mr Amin.
The Director thanked the Canadian government for their assistance, noting the high cost of training a class in the valuable course.
“Mr Mohamed Amin conveyed the Directorate's compliments to the Canadian Govt, given the high cost of training a single class on the coveted course,” read the statement published by the DCI via its Facebook page in part.
On her part, Ms. Magdala Turpin, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Liaison Officer, assured continued collaboration with Kenyan security teams to enhance operational intelligence capabilities.
She encouraged the trainees to learn best practices from their facilitators.
